dogs behavior before they die documentary amazon

dogs behavior before they die documentary amazon ๏ปฟThe Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is small: it only weighs 10 to 18 pounds and stands 11 to 13 inches. Why such a long and big name for a pooch this tiny? Well it's said that they originated from England and were kept amongst royalty as the ideal pet – King Charles II in particular seemed to like this breed the most. What made this dog so popular is it's beauty and playful nature. It just loves playing all sorts of games with its human companions, like running around after the human owner. Or nibbling at your shoes, which some people find to be adorable, but for others (like me) to be annoying.

Nevertheless, it's an extremely affectionate dog breed, which needs an owner to somewhat do the same in turn. Giving them attention is the basic requirement for this dog – it's just as important as feeding it or showing it love. Single people married to their jobs aren't suitable as an owner of this breed. Not giving it enough attention and having it cooped up inside the house for long grueling hours changes its personality, for the worse. Keeping it in a lonely environment triggers the development of behavioral problems, such as being hyperactive. It'll be running around uncontrollably inside the house in a destructive manner, possibly knocking over flower vases and other small things it's capable of knocking down.

Having it locked up could also make the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel nervous. This means that it could get scared at the sight of normal human behavior, especially that of other humans that it doesn't know. It would be bowing its head and tail as it walked away from strangers. All this just from locking it up – so if you don't have the time to give it the attention it requires daily, you should never consider getting this as a pet, unless there's another member in the household with nothing much to do and could satisfy its needs. Training a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel won't be difficult.

It's surprisingly intelligent, which makes learning easy. They are very willing to learn and can become very obedient and master several tricks. With the right dog training methods, their good sense of smell coupled with great agility can actually be used for hunting. When teaching this pooch, remember that its core characteristic, which is being affectionate and the demand for human attention. With that in mind, you could work it to your advantage – a routine with utilizing positive comments such as “good boy” or “good doggy” plus doggy treats would condition it to become even more eager to learn. Training routines should be consistent and full of fun if you want to make things easier for the both of you.

Set time for you and your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to just chill out and go around. Have it meet the other pets in the neighborhood as well as your friends. It will enjoy and need socialization very much, which happens to be one of the building blocks in dog behavioral development.

neighbor dog barking solutions ๏ปฟRaising Kids in the Ghetto - Close Relationships are the Key

Well, I'm still remembering and reminiscing about the days when my children were little. I'll share a few more stories about raising kids in the ghetto.

We ended up in this run-down neighborhood when we bought a house and fixed it up. It was the nicest place in the entire neighborhood, but it would not sell because no one who could afford to buy it wanted to live there.

It was cold outside and my son was playing in the backyard. He wanted to warm things up a bit. When things heated up a bit too much he came running into the house with this terrified look on his face.

"Mmmmmommy?" I could tell something was wrong. Observant, aren't I?

"What is it?"

"F-f-f-fire! Mm-m-momie!"

"Tell Mommy what happened. You aren't in trouble, just tell me...."

He didn't have to. I looked out the window to see the playhouse engulfed in smoke. I ran out of the house, grabbed the hose, and ran to the rescue. It was only a matter of minutes before everything was under control, but my daughter has been mad at her brother ever since for melting her plastic stove; dishes, play food, and all.

Those are accidents, and I suppose every kid has at least one to tell about. Then, there are things that adults do that are truly stupid. Like the guy who lived across the street from us. He would get drunk and lay in the ditch night after night until the police came out to get him back into the house when someone finally complained of his moaning. And the two gals who lived next door who fought all the time. One day the blond got into her car and tried to run over the redhead. She missed the first time so she took a second and a third try until she succeeded in penning her against the concrete wall with the bumper with no place to run. Then she proceeded to beat her. I was watching out my bedroom window. I was on hold with the police station...again.

I thought things couldn't get any worse. Then, another set of renters moved in after the "ladies" were evicted. This family had some bad dogs that were so vicious I couldn't let my kids play in our own front yard. The dogs tore everyone's trash out and strew it all over our yard; trash that included the front leg of some animal, probably a deer since it was hunting season. I called the landlord and the police. I was told there was nothing that could be done unless I could get the dogs into captivity on my property. My son's bb gun took care of that situation right away. Mommas can shoot too! I just can't hit a target, but the sweet pup was tied securely to my front porch ready for their ride to the Animal Shelter later that afternoon.

One day I was doing my quilting or playing piano and minding my own business when the GBI came to my front door asking questions about my neighbor. I was asked to identify a hat he wore often. The next morning after I got my kids off to school, I awoke to a loud noise in the backyard. People were screaming and hollering (that's southern for yelling). By the time I found my eyeglasses, a policeman was straddling atop my neighbor's back. The young man was lying face down in my petunias while the officer placed handcuffs to arrest him right there in my backyard. His crime? He had killed a woman that he had picked up at the bar down the street. He then stuffed her body into the trunk of a car, drove the car to a local park, left it there, and got a ride home like nothing had happened. Only in the movies, so I thought.

Raising kids in the ghetto is much more difficult than raising them in a safe neighborhood. The key to keeping kids safe is to make friends with your neighbors so you know who you can trust. Then, you help look out for one another's kids. You have to know where your kids are all the time and you'd better have a close relationship with them if you want to survive. Praying a lot helps too.

Well, that's enough of remembering for one day. I get to sleep late in the morning. I think I'll go to bed early and get a head start.

trained dog happy dog florida eye

trained dog happy dog florida eye ๏ปฟThe most popular training problem is dog aggression. More than 4.3 million people every year are bitten by dogs. That is about 2 percent of the population of the United States. Not a small number.

The most common reason people dismiss this behavior is that "the dog is an animal" and it is going to behave as such. It has natural instincts. It is always no matter what behavior it is engaged in, good or bad, playing to those instincts. Now the good thing about dogs, the reason that they are so loved as pets is because they have been bred to be domesticated animals. So that means that one of the dog's instincts is to try to please.

So along with this being a symptom of a dog being a dog there is also the fact that dogs have an instinct towards a pack society. Now what this means is that there is a hierarchy of respect that a dog will give other dogs and/or humans according to how the dog perceives you in the hierarchy.

So to make it more clear, if you are clearly an authority figure to that dog it is much less likely to engage in some of the behaviors that we do not appreciate such as dog aggression or the dog biting you. The reason for that is that if you are seen as the authority figure, the alpha of the pack, then your dog would not dare play in a certain manner.

So for example, let's say there are two members of your household; one has trained the dog from the beginning. There is a certain bond to their relationship with the dog. Many people now mistake this and say well, the dog loves me but hates my husband, that is why he bites him. But that is not really accurate. It is somewhat of an oversimplification.

It is not so much about love, instead it is how the dog perceives you versus your husband. Say you have trained the dog from the day you brought it home from the breeder, pet store, shelter, or pound, and you have been constant with this dog. You are the one giving it treats. You are the one responding to its behavior. And let's say your husband or boyfriend or significant other, whoever it may be, even a friend, encounters the dog and the dog jumps up on the friend or the dog bites the friend. This is someone that the dog just does not perceive as being higher than it in the social standing of your little household pack. So in that case the dog feels more freedom to do certain things.

A perfect example would be let's say at work you may say you act a certain way with your coworkers who are in the same job as you with the same title or even with someone of a lower job title in your company where you work than you would with your boss or the head of the company. You are going to be much more guarded with your boss, much more careful about everything you do than you would be with the buddy that is in the next office or next cubicle or the next desk. The same is true with your dog.

So, I am sure you are starting to see a pattern. The key to making your dog less aggressive is to increase your standing in the pack with proper dog training. Being authoritative is required. Crate train your dog if you haven't yet. The uninformed see that as cruel. However, dogs are den animals. They enjoy having a space of their own. Lets put it this way-remember your first apartment. You didn't care how small it was because it was "all yours". Your dog is no different. If you take those steps you should able to make strides in having a much less aggressive dog.

change in my dogs behavior

change in my dogs behavior ๏ปฟAccording to an article released by CBS News called “Fake Service dogs a Growing Problem,” real service dogs help assist a wide variety of individuals, including “people who use power or manual wheelchairs, have balance issues, have various types of autism, need seizure alert or response, need to be alerted to other medical issues like low blood sugar, or have psychiatric disabilities”. Obviously, service dogs help positively affect a massive amount of disabled individuals. What could go wrong?

Fake service dogs, that’s what. CBS News released a shocking report back in December that followed the rising number of “fake” service dogs that were available over the Internet. Actually, more specifically, the “legal” documents, tags, and vests were available to anyone over the Internet, which means any dog can be disguised as a service dog.

But why would the general public spring for such deceit? Having a service dog provides lots of public perks. For example, people with service dogs can cut the line at airports. Or these dogs are allowed in movie theatres, so regular dog owners now have a loophole in which to watch new movie releases with their pooch.

“Just like anyone who breaks the rules. It ruins it for the legitimate needs of people who need their dogs,” says said Anne-Marie Karash, an associate director of the Humane Society of New York. Which is quite unfortunate, seeing as though there is a particularly large demand for service dogs among civilians. However, such complications in medicinal canine acquisition also affects the growing number of combat veterans returning home from war. Service dogs have been proven to help soldiers rehabilitate from mental illnesses like PTSD, and physically aide those who have been through significant physical trauma that perhaps required limb amputation or the need for a wheelchair.

The U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs reports that one in five combat veterans develops Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, either during or shortly after combat. The Mayo Clinic defines PTSD as having three main categories of symptoms: “re-experiencing symptoms,” “avoidance symptoms,” and “hyperarousal symptoms”. These categories can be simplified to describe symptoms of flashbacks and nightmares, feeling of guilt and depression, and insomnia, respectively. With this new insurgence of service dog fraud, however, all of these veterans who are affected by PTSD and other ailments are going to have a more difficult time using legitimate service dogs to maintain their previous standard of living, since businesses and other establishments are becoming more aware of fraudulent dogs and are therefore mistrusting the whole service-dog system.

Where can one find legitimate service dogs? To be honest, it takes some hunting through different resources, whether it be with the help of online search engines to help pinpoint the available organizations who support legitimate service dogs, to smaller print announcements perhaps around one’s neighborhood. Some organizations personally train their service dogs, while others simply teach an individual how to train their dog to become a legitimate service dog. While the latter appears to contribute to the problem of the influx of fake service dogs, Brian Sabatino, a dog trainer, insists that there is one surefire way to tell the difference between a legitimate and fraudulent service dog: “They didn’t go through the training...anything could set them off.”

The VA used to be an excellent resource for distributing and training serviced dogs for veterans, but with the recent scandals regarding the VA and its frequent inadequate care, veterans are advised to seek contact other organizations elsewhere with their inquiries regarding service dogs.

One of those organizations is Operation: I.V, a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2012 that helps combat veterans heal from both PTSD as well as traumatic brain injuries. Its founder, Roxann Abrams, is a Gold Star Mother who lost her son SFC Randy Abrams in 2009. Randy took his own life after experiencing a PTSD flashback from his service in Iraq. Randy had undiagnosed PTSD- a common occurrence among combat veterans either due to mistakes made by the medical field or simply the individual’s failure to report such grave symptoms.

As a result of her son’s death, Abrams founded Operation: I.V. so that combat veterans who served in either Iraq or Afghanistan have a place to receive treatment through a specialized “VIP”, or “Veteran Intervention Plan” program. “VIP” offers ten different rehabilitation programs, including hyperbolic oxygen therapy, service dogs, and anxiety reduction therapy. Additionally, veterans may also partake in programs such as job retraining, business mentoring, and educational assistance. Again, while there is no cure for PTSD, the programs provided by Operation: I.V. can drastically improve a veteran’s mental health and overall outlook on life.

Golden retriever puppy is almost irresistible. dog lovers can find it very hard to resist seeing a golden retriever pup in front of them. However, there is a valid reason why you should not be very eager to take home a golden retriever puppy if he is not yet at the right age. Like any other animals, there is a specific time for goldens to be separated from their mothers. Newly born retriever pups needs some time to be with their mother to grow and mature. Separating a golden retriever puppy from its mother at a very young age can have devastating effect. Ideally, a golden retriever puppy must be at least 3 months old before you buy it from golden retriever puppy breeders and the reason for this is listed below.

Health Concerns A mother's milk is very essential for a golden retriever puppy to go strong and healthy. Golden retrievers are very vulnerable, thus, golden pups needs the antibodies in their mother's milk. The immune system of a young golden retriever is not yet fully developed; therefore, they need to get antibodies from their mother's milk to ward of different germs and bacteria. Another thing is, very young retrievers cannot handle immunization shots, thus, the moment they get exposed to harmful organism, there is a very high chance that they will succumb to infection. A three month old retriever already has his immune system fully developed, plus he is now ready to receive his vaccines giving him more protection from harmful germs and viruses. Another thing is, three months old retriever pups have higher chances of survival.

Mental Development Golden retriever's mental developments are influenced by their mother and siblings. By staying longer with their mother, retriever puppies learn proper behavior for dogs and they will be able to feel how it is like to live with a family. According to studies, golden retrievers will grow to be shy and fearful if they are taken away from their mothers before they even reach three months old. On the other hand, those puppies who were given sufficient time to bond with their mothers will grow up to be friendly and playful adult retriever.

Another advantage of taking home a retriever puppy at the right age is that, they can be fed easily. Three month old retrievers can start eating solid food, provided that you soften it with hot water before feeding. On the other hand, if you will get a very young golden retriever, you will have to feed the puppy with milk. This means another added cost because this may mean that you will have to buy milk formulas and other paraphernalia for milk feeding.

In general, before you decide to take home a golden retriever puppy, see to it that you are financially, emotionally, and psychologically prepared for the greater responsibilities associated with raising a golden retriever puppy. Remember that these puppies can be very playful. They are very curious and they can munch on everything that they see. Therefore, you should be very careful with your belongings if you do not want them to be the subject of your golden's curious mouth.
