dog training youtube chad mckinnons

dog training youtube chad mckinnons ๏ปฟYou should start training your dog for agility while he is a puppy. But, it's possible to do it even if the dog is older. Getting your dog started with training should be done once you know if he isn't too old for it.

Knowing the age of the dog isn't enough to decide if he is too old. If he is still able to do it, the training age can vary from one breed to another. It depends on what his natural tendencies are, so there isn't one single age that you can use to decide on this matter.

But, even if older dogs can be trained, the process is much easier if the dog is still young. That's because he hasn't developed the habits and they aren't yet rooted in him.

If you do need to train an older dog, don't go into it thinking that he can't learn anything. Both the trainer and the dog should go into it fully committed. If the owner is patient enough and dedicated to agility training, the dog will learn much faster.

You can pick one of several methods to start the agility training. Some of them are presented below:

Physical exercise

Physical exercises should be the first things when starting agility training. If the trainer is interested in training the dog properly, age should be of no importance as long as the dog's condition is good. You can do some basic exercises with him, like hopping or jumping, to make him move a bit. If the dog is still a puppy, he can exercise much easier, because of the extra energy he has.

Allow him to play around

Just like you would teach a kid, if you make an exercise appear like a game, he's more likely to learn whatever you want to teach him. Puppies can generally go through chutes and tunnels, so you can easily introduce obstacles and tunnels into the exercise. You can turn the training area into a play ground where he can learn and have fun at the same time.

The puppy will be better prepared for agility training if you use this method to prepare him for what comes next.

Encourage his agility

If the training area is too small to put up obstacle courses, you can still use a number of different games to make him more agile. The training can be improved by using improvised walls and tunnels.

Keep it short

While dogs aren't as enthusiast as people about doing different activities, they do want to please their masters. You can't get them to continue the training if you don't give him a reason to like it. You can encourage him by giving him treats, patting him or praising, which should keep his attention to the exercise. Still, you shouldn't do very long training sessions.

One good rule to follow when you want to do agility training is not to do long lessons. It's better to keep them short. You can't teach him everything in only one lesson, so keep the training sessions short. This way he can understand everything without being overwhelmed with information. One tip is to finish each exercise with a praise, so always end it when he does something right.

It doesn't matter how young or old the dog is if the objective is agility training. It's all about how well he responds, if he wants to obey your commands or how willing he is to work on his own. It also matters if the trainer has enough patience with him.

dog training youtube chad mackin podcast hosting

dog training youtube chad mackin podcast hosting ๏ปฟYou may have seen them rolling down the sidewalk on two wheels and two paws โ€“ a dog with a disability. If you looked close enough as dog and owner passed, you probably noticed one amazing thing: they're both as happy-go-lucky as any regular human-dog pair.

If you are like most people, this scenario seems extraordinary โ€“ that the dog would be doing so well with a physical challenge to contend with โ€“ and that the owner is patient enough to address the daily needs of his companion. And it is extraordinary. Not for the dog involved (most animals adapt to their disability easily), but for the human. In order to address the needs and challenges posed by a dog without sight, hearing, mobility or any other type of disability, the human needs to have the heart, dedication and ingenuity to help these special animals thrive. Accepting this role is not for everyone, given that some of the duties may include walking the animal from room to room and in extreme cases, emptying their bladder and bowels. But to the people who share their family with these special canines, it is just part of the daily routine. In most cases, the extra assistance they provide for their disabled animal actually increases the bond between them, not the other way around.

Here are some common misconceptions about dogs with disabilities (you will need to get over these, if you feel called to care for one):

โ€ข dogs with disabilities don't have fulfilling lives

โ€ข They should be pitied

This is simply not the case. With a little assistive technology, such as harnesses, wheelchairs, advances in medicine, diet and medical procedures, many dogs with disabilities live just as fulfilling lives as those without. As far as pitying our dog with a disability, it just isn't necessary; does it look like Sniper, chasing after the mailman in his wheelchair, is feeling one bit sorry for himself? No! And you shouldn't either.

The truth is that these dogs don't pay attention to their disability (why should they, when it is just part of who they are); they readily accept the opportunities and fun that life has to offer; make the most of what they can do, instead of focusing on what they can't (humans do that for them enough); and, lastly, have more patience with themselves than we would in the same situation. They keep going and that's what people love about them. In actuality, we humans can learn a lot from these dogs.

Should you decide to adopt a dog with a disability, here are some tips:

For dogs with mobility impairments:

โ€ข Install ramps where ever there are stairs or where the dog may have trouble getting in and out

โ€ข Have food and water off the floor, so the dog doesn't have to bend

o Building an elevated stand for their food and water can easily rectify this

โ€ข Keep the floor free of obstacles

โ€ข Place baby gates in front of stairs or areas you don't want your dog to go

For dogs with hearing/visual impairments:

โ€ข Never leave the dog outside unattended, as they can wander off and hurt themselves

โ€ข Don't rearrange the furniture, as your blind dog uses this to help him navigate

โ€ข When waking a deaf dog, don't touch him. Instead, stamp your foot to create a vibration. This will wake him without surprising him

โ€ข Learn sign language and facial expressions as a way of communicating. dogs have proven themselves to be remarkable at learning sign language. Indeed they cannot respond in return, but they have shown they comprehend the same commands dog owners verbally use with their hearing dogs.

There are other tips, for addressing other disabilities, but in general, as you can see, life may not be typical with one of these dogs, but it is more than doable, and that is the important part. It may be a little different at first, but you get used to it in time and forget that it isn't "normal". It is normal for Sniper and you as you roll out of the house for a good game of Frisbee.

dog training youtube chad mackin sean

dog training youtube chad mackin sean ๏ปฟOne of the most principle responsibilities of dog owners is training. This activity can be bolstered with the acquisition of the dog training collar. Understanding the dog breed’s body language can also prove invaluable. For instance, it is said that a dog with an upright and stiff tail that wags faster is restless and aggressive. In other words, it may be very mean.

Interpretation of Body Language

The fact is dogs make use of their whole bodies to communicate with human beings and other domesticated pets. Eyes and ears of dogs are always full of life. These are the vehicles for furry pets’ drive and feelings. Body language includes leaning their heads, wiggling tails, moving legs and bodies. These are subliminal messages but tell a lot of stories. Once you understand the messages from your dogs, the more you understand these furry pets. Then, it will be easier to train your canine pals and expect gradual progress.

What to Expect from Training

You can buy your dog training collar and start with the actual training. However, training will not be easy. Remember that it is not advisable to force your pet to do a specific action. However, the only way to connect with your dog is through body language. You can try to look at your dog’s eyes to determine its mood. It is important for you to establish rapport with your reliable pet. You are the master and the dog will always obey a command that is given correctly. Maintain compassion and never resort to maltreatment or too much toughness. Try to be a leader of the pack since these dogs depend on their human mentors for guidance.

Participation in Actual Training

When you become involved in dog training, you will be exposed to the animal’s behavior, actions and moods. According to dog trainers, if the dog is shaking fast and widely, this implies happiness and excitement while wagging the tail freely means that it is eager to know more about the person. You can learn from this tip such that a dog wagging its tail slowly indicates that it is still deciding whether you are a friend or antagonist. Take note of all these and as you go along with the training, it will help a lot. Besides, the dog training collar makes your task less difficult since there will be a better relationship between you and your pet.

will ferrell dog training youtube cesar millan ๏ปฟBesides a carrying device, dog backpacks offer a solution to a common problem that many dog owners often face. While some dogs walk perfectly on a leash, other dogs pull relentlessly.

dogs love to work and by placing a backpack on Fido, you’re giving him a job to do during his walk. This job helps to keep the dog focused while eliminating his need to pull.

dogs are wonderful actors and you may have noticed how frequently they are used in beverage commercials and other outdoor advertisements. dog backpacks are gaining in popularity with outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, hikers and other sportsmen. They are also very handy for those who like to take their dog’s for an occasional outing at a park or a beach.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your dog Backpack

Exercise – They can be used on long trail hikes or when you just walk with your dog around the neighborhood. For a short walk you can add some books to the backpack. The weight of the backpack should not be too heavy.

Convenience – Backpacks for dogs are an excellent way to carry water, food, toys and waste management.

Sense Of Purpose – The backpack provides purpose and this is a great way for dogs to do a “good job”. dogs are well aware that they are doing something useful and helpful for their owner. Remember, dogs truly do aim to please their owners.

Training – dog backpacks help hyper-active dogs by redirecting their attention. A busy dog is a calm dog.

Fun – More outdoor activities are a great way to include your dog and provide a little fun and entertainment for him. Load his backpack with all the essentials needed for his special time.

dog backpacks offer several different features; some are attached with Velcro fasteners while others may use nylon straps with plastic buckles. Some fasten around the chest while others fasten around the abdomen area. Other features include pockets, zippers and snaps.

Important tips to consider before purchasing:

Many prefer a mesh fabric that works well in hot humid weather. This breathable fabric will help to keep your dog cool.

How many pockets do you need and are they large enough?

Adjustable harness.

It’s real important that the backpack fits the dog perfectly. There should be no rubbing or slipping at all. Using a cloth measuring tape, measure around the widest part of the dog’s rib cage.

You should be able to slip 2-4 fingers comfortably between the straps.

The weight in the backpack should be evenly distributed with the bulk of the weight at the shoulders where the dog is the strongest and not on the back. Although there are some dog backpacks with built in back support.

Many hikers will place the dog’s collapsible water bowl in a side pocket.

Is it machine washable.

Make sure the dog backpack doesn’t restrict the dog’s movement in any way.

Bright colors with reflective tape are nice features that keep your dog noticeable to others.

One of the easiest dog trick that you can train your dog to do is to teach your dog to yawn on command. This trick can be taught to any dog of any size or breed and by anyone, and by anyone I mean children and adults.

What you are going to need before training this trick is treats. You can also use something that your dog likes, like a favorite toy or praise, depending on how your dog responds. For simplicity, I will use treats in my article but you are welcome to substitute it with whatever works with your dog.

Place your treat nearby, preferably somewhere near that you can access easily. What I do is I put my treats on the table by my couch, in a little jar so that I can access it very easily and without having to open a bag to get to them.

When your dog goes for a nap or is sleeping nearby, watch closely and wait until he wakes up. Once your dog wakes up he will most likely yawn. This is the perfect opportunity to reward your dog for yawning since that is the behavior that we want to reinforce. All you have to do during this time is to say the word "Yes!" at the same time that your dog yawns and immediately give him a treat after.

Your timing has to be very precise in order for your dog to learn to yawn. If you do this several times a day for a week you'll notice that your dog will actually start yawning on his own without even being tired just so that he can get a treat. Once that happens, it is a golden opportunity to associate the command "Are you tired" with the behavior of yawning.

Once you see your dog yawning, say your command "Are you tired" and immediately give him a treat. It should take about a week to fully condition your dog to yawn on command. Obviously this is relevant to the amount of times that you train per day or if your timing is perfect, but in an average you should expect to have a fully trained trick like this in two weeks time.

Now that your dog has learned to yawn on command, you might want to show it off a little bit to your friends and family. The best way to do this is to actually do it with several other tricks so that it looks more like a performance. For example, you could ask your dog to shake his paw, roll over, turn around, give you a high five ... and finish with "are you tired" from all of these tricks, which your dog will inevitably yawn in approval.

Well there you go, this is an extremely easy trick to train your dog and I encourage you to train as many tricks as you can since training is one of the best ways to build the relationship with your dog and to connect with him. Have fun!

shock collars for dog training youtube videos

shock collars for dog training youtube videos ๏ปฟThe development of human civilization is accompanied by gradual formation of particular breeds of dog, too. In the course of time, various types of dog came into existence and every one of them suits a different type of its owner.

Who wants such a dog that will be a very quick runner, he will choose some greyhound. Who wants to have such a dog that is a strong defender and will be kept inside of house, he will choose a Bull Mastiff, for example. Who wants to bring up an obedient and smart utility dog that will be kept outside all year long, he will choose for instance a Belgian or German Shepherd. And so on.

In the whole world there are so many different breeds of dog that one often does not know which one of them he is to choose. Therefore I will mention several facts that will help to make the best choice.

My personal opinion is that that the best breeds of dog are those that are close to the wolf. It has a universally-built figure that joins power and quickness in the best ratio, but it has a big endurance, long coat and excellent instincts as well.

The breeds of dog that possess these qualities most are wolfhounds - shepherds and ovcharkas. And if we were to speak also about their ability to protect, the most powerful of them are large livestock guardians like Central Asian and Caucasian Ovcharka, Anatolian Shepherd and similarly. They were not artificially created by man, but they either develop fully naturally or they were co-created at worst.

Personally, I prefer what was created by Nature to what was created by man. In case of dogs, it means that I take so-called "natural breeds" for the better ones than all the other.

By the way, modern methods of dog training and dog feeding are not the best, which the dog is to live with. There are irreplaceable natural activities and suitable & less nutritive food that cannot be replaced by anything else.

Among the activities we can find long walks in miscellaneous terrain (uphill, downhill), a bit of fighting with other dogs, disciplining disobedient cattle units during herding, encounters with wild animals, fights with human enemies or such a protection training that imitates them perfectly etc.

As for feeding, it should not contain too much nutritive substances and any bigger amount of vitamins. The dog's organism has to do with only a medium amount of them and every now and then the dog is one day without any food.

A bit of hard work with some occasional hunger will do good to dogs. Of course, in the majority of days they are fed very well and they are rested. But if it was so all the time, they would degenerate.

In order to summarize what was written above, I would recommend the breeds of dog that have a wolf-like figure, who do some hard work and fight a bit. But only in such a small degree that would make them develop themselves and that would not do them harm.

Not everything what is modern is best, but oppositely sometimes is best something what is old, proven by time and what has a very long tradition. Such a dog life that is not the easiest one, but that is the real one.

Here are two resources dedicated to large livestock guardians: http://wolfhounds.rossiyskiyvolkodav.ru/ (English) and http://www.rossiyskiyvolkodav.ru/ (Russian).

clicker dog training youtube channel ๏ปฟBuying an English Springer Spaniel puppy is the first step towards fun and companionship with these wonderful animals. It is important to get it right and these tips will help you do that. Some say "let the puppy choose you". That is all right up to a point, but you still want to be sure that the puppy is in good shape for the breed.

If you have done all the preliminary checks on the pup - parents' pedigree, prize winners in last two generations and so on then we come to the finer points.

A pup is by definition very young, so we will not know how it will grow, and therefore have to rely on the look of the parents. The things we can check on the mother (and maybe the father too if he is around) without being judging experts are:

1. From the side, is the body basically square - height equal to length is good?

2. The forelegs - does the mother stand with pigeon toes or with paws splayed, or ideally paws straight ahead?

3. Are the hindquarters muscular and strong looking and are the rear paws pointing forward? The rear legs should have a moderate rake back, and should not be vertical or raked too much.

4. The base of the tail should run parallel with the dog's back and not rise above it.

5. The paws should look like a continuation of the legs and the toes should not be splayed (which can lead to injury).

6. The coat should be glossy and healthy looking, and not coarse or curly.

7. In addition to the basic liver and white or black and white coloring, some tan markings are acceptable, but only on the eyebrows, on the cheeks, inside the ears, under the tail, and sparely on the lower legs. Blue roan is an acceptable color in the US.

If the mother checks out ok in these respects, and has a good natural gait with the legs swinging straight forward then that should all be a good indicator for her pups.

On the pup, the minimum checks should be as follows:

1. A liver coloring should be rich and dark.

2. A wavy coat in a pup is not a good sign for an adult show dog - check the coat behind the head and down the neck and back. Showing may not be important to you but a wavy coat will require more grooming.

3. Deep blue eyes which are not running or weeping (deeper color now means a deeper hazel color in maturity).

4. A cold wet nose with no pink patches.

5. A coat which is smooth and glossy.

6. Check the teeth for correct bite - upper teeth have a close overlap on the lower teeth and the jaw is set square.

7. Check the testicles to see that they are both descended (this would be by 6-8 week of age).

The puppy should not appear too thin or too fat. A big tummy could point to worms.

These checks are generic, and if you are serious about winning prizes with your English Springer Spaniel then you should check the Breed Standard in more depth for your particular country, as Breed Standards are not totally consistent internationally.

The above checklist does not cover everything, but will give a good general indication of the pup's likely development. If you do have any doubts then you could get a veterinarian's report.

dog training youtube chad mackin pack

dog training youtube chad mackin pack ๏ปฟTraining your dog the sit command is usually the best place to start off with your obedience training, Its simple, relatively easy to teach and is on that dogs tend to retain quickly. The Sit command is good for many reasons it will increase your dogs confidence in his ability to understand you and is a great help when dealing with behavioral issues.

The Sit command is also useful when your dog is meeting new people, preventing him from walking around and smelling them, or when people come over - stoppping him from darting outside or to the front door and jumping up on them.

The sit command is one that you can start at anytime during your dog ownership (recommended at the beginning) just be sure that you and your do have a good relationship and that he is comfortable around you.

1. stand in front of your dog

2. Have one of his favorite treats

3. Allow him to smell it

4. Bring the tread over his head, he will smell the food and follow it with his nose, this action will cause him to sit or back-up but preferably sit. (also don't hold too high above heat, this may cause you pet to jump)

5. The second your dog sits, respond with the word "good" (or whatever word or phrase you will consistently use for praising your dogs actions) and give him the treat.

6. Repeat 5-7 times.

7. Once your dog learns the sit command gradually eliminate the treats, but continue to praise.

8. Practice the "sit" command in different situations, locations and scenarios to help to improve the dog's training. It's vital that the dog will obey the "sit" command even if distractions are present.

A Few Notes to remember

Always have you treats or rewards ready, Never have to fumble to get them when required. This negatively affects your session.

Timing is important, ten minutes per session is enough. do not overwhelm you dog to the point where he is bored.

dogs pick up on emotions, don't be impatient or angry. Your dog wont want to train with you unless its fun.

avoid having to physically push your dog into a "sit" position. You don't want him to associate this with the command
